Volunteers needed in Kenya
This is a fantastic opportunity to live and work in Kenya. You can be working in one of the most beautiful countries in Africa whilst enriching and enhancing the lives of orphans and other disadvantaged members of the society within local communities. Besides the obvious abundance of wildlife roaming the plains and the yearly migration of wildebeest that draws in thousands of tourists Kenya is also famous for its rich culture and tribal history, enabling you to learn and experience ‘first hand’ typical life in a third world country.
This project will involve qualified professionals and the not so well qualified personnel from the UK and other Developed countries offering their free services to schools, hospitals and children homes among other institutions.
Project Work
As a volunteer you will be helping at various institutions where you will be involved in a variety of tasks depending on the current level of need although the emphasis is placed on education and health activities.
As for health professionals and other support staff you will be helping with treatment or dispensation of drugs, or working as support staff in hospitals and other community health centres.
For education professionals and social workers you will work with the children/young people and the elderly in various school, colleges and community groups to deliver projects and teach variety of subjects such Maths and English.
By taking this placement you will be filling an important role in the lives of the local people of Kenya as well as assisting the hardworking staff at the centres. You do not need any experience to be a successful volunteer-just the right skills and training and commitment to have a go and get stuck in!
Project location:
Fill in volunteer form specifying your preferred location either near big towns or in remote parts of the country. After this we will do our best to get you a suitable placement.
Duration of Placement.
There is no maximum duration you can volunteer. However you will need to volunteer for at least two weeks at any one project.
Accommodation and meals:
- Accommodation type: Host family.
- Costs: £75 per week per head with food inclusive.
- Allow £5 per day for extra basics (meals out, bus, bottled drinks, snacks etc).
Minimum stay: 2 weeks
- Full time Monday to Friday
When to apply:
The placement is first come first served so we encourage you to book early. This must be at least six weeks before you plan to travel.
Volunteers going on holiday will need to pay the total cost of the holiday when booking. i.e weekly hosting costs and pick up/drop-off fee from and to the airport.

Tours
Kenya is a stunning country from the reserves on the plains to the beaches on the Indian Ocean attracting tourists from all over the world. Amboseli, Tsavo and the Masai Mara are excellent for game viewing and you do not need to stay long. In one typical two day tour you will encounter lions, hippos, giraffe, zebras, hyenas, antelope and elephant and can be booked easily in Kenya for as little as £250. The North around Samburu and Turkana are off the beaten track and an anthropologist’s dream . The climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro takes several days but is worth it.

Visits to the above sites can be arranged privately at reasonable rates by our local representatives.

Arrival dates
There are no set arrival dates other than arriving between Mon and Fri during the day so as to make it easier to be picked up from the airport.
