Project Description

Pakistan Appeal

Donate to Pakistan and help us Pound Poverty together through providing life-saving meals to Pakistan’s poorest and most vulnerable. One out of every 2 people in Pakistan are food insecure, meaning they do not know where their next meal will come from. This is whilst 2 billion tonnes of food produced are said to be wasted every year, 89 million tonnes in the European Union alone. Food is a basic right of every human being and there is no doubt we can feed a starving Pakistan with what we throw away. The Pakistan floods of 2010 and 2014, affecting tens of millions of people in the country have only further compounded the food crisis in Pakistan. With 10 million Pakistanis made food insecure after the Pakistan floods of 2010, the need for basic food to feed needy Pakistani families and communities is greater than ever before. Experts state, not only do natural disasters such as the Pakistani floods and the Kashmir earthquake of 2005 prevent food supplies reaching some rural communities particularly those located in the mountainous regions but they also play a key role in drastically reducing the food harvest.

These sharp and unfortunately consistent reductions in harvesting have resulted in making Pakistan a nation in which 31 % of it’s population live on less than $1 a day. Those of us living in developed countries can not even begin to contemplate such a heart breaking reality. It is fair to say, one would struggle to feed yourself on such a measly income never mind an entire family but millions of Pakistanis are forced to try to feed, clothe, shelter, provide medical care and medicine for their wife, children and even parents in many cases on less than $1 a day. Please support Pound Poverty Pakistan by Medical Relief International and help us deliver hope to those who feel all hope of survival is lost.

It takes kind donors and people with a wide variety of skills and experiences to positively influence the world. We welcome donors and anyone wanting to become part of our MRI Volunteers Network.
